Cards never print your salary, but every number comes from it, so a sharp friend could guess roughly what you earn. Card 4, the raise test, gives away the least.
Questions
What is Salary Wrapped?
Five cards about your salary and income tax for FY 2026-27: the day your tax is paid off, your hourly pay after tax, whether your tax regime is right, how much of a 10% raise you'd keep, and a salary personality. Each card can be shared as an image.
How are the numbers worked out?
With the same tax engine as our income tax calculator: FY 2026-27 slabs, standard deduction, 87A rebate, marginal relief and 4% cess, in whichever regime is cheaper for you. Hourly pay is your salary after tax divided by the hours you work in a year (9-hour days and 250 workdays unless you change them).
Why does a raise give me less than I expected?
The extra pay is taxed at your highest slab rate, plus 4% cess. Just above ₹12.75 lakh it's sharper still: the 87A rebate stops, so the first rupees of a raise can carry tax that was zero before.
Do you store my salary?
No. Everything is worked out in your browser. We count anonymous events, like a card being shared, without the salary.
Slabs, rebate and cess are for FY 2026-27 (tax year 2026-27 under the new Income-tax Act, 2025). Check any figure on the Income Tax Department's own calculator.
